7 safe and inspiring things to do while driving

OK, Is it just me? Or, more and more, are people driving far more unsafely? Every day I see cars driving erratically, and when I pull aside them and look through the window, they’re texting. Or talking without a headset. Or eating. Or searching for something in the other seat, while turning. It’s not only dangerous – it’s also not being present.
I’m tempted to create the “Just Drive” campaign.
We’re so overstimulated all the time that simply driving may have become a challenge. So, here are six things you can do while driving, that are good for you – and for the drivers around you. 🙂
- Take long deep breaths. Imagine filling your being with vitality, energy and life.
- Sing a song at the top of your lungs – with or without the radio! (Don’t worry, everyone will think you’re on your iPhone.)
- When another driver annoys you, practice compassion exercises: “Everyone wants to be happy, just like me.” Or, how would I react if that was your sweet grandparent?
- Talk in funny accents. (See #2.)
- Pay incredibly detailed attention to the scenery passing by. Notice things you’ve never seen before.
- Listen to an inspirational CD or tape.
- If all else fails… just drive.
